Self-serve applications for registered mental health practitioners. Three pathways below. Forms submit directly to ISTDP Australia & New Zealand, so you don't need to wait for a coordinator before applying.

Notebook with pen — Pre-Core Step 1

Pre-Core / Introductory Workshop

3 days, hybrid. Recommended before Core (but not required). Open application to all registered mental health professionals.

Core Training (3 years)

3 years, 4 × 3-day blocks per year. Hybrid. Cohorts capped at 10. Open application, which will be promptly assessed and you will be notified of the result.

Invite-only. Expressions of interest welcome from clinicians who have completed Core Training in ISTDP.

How your data is handled

Application forms are hosted on JotForm, which uses TLS encryption in transit and encrypts submissions at rest. Your submission is stored in JotForm and delivered to our inbox at [email protected]; we don't share your registration number, ID information or contact details with any other third party without your consent.

We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Act 1988. You can request access to or deletion of any information you've submitted, from both JotForm and our inbox, at any time by emailing the address above.

Step 1

Apply for Pre-Core Training

A three-day introduction to ISTDP for registered mental health practitioners. Submit your application below; we'll confirm details, dates, and fees by return email.

Format: 3 days, hybrid (Melbourne + online) Cohort: 20–25 attendees Faculty: Julie Cochrane Eligibility: Registered mental health practitioner (AHPRA, AASW, PACFA, ACA, NMBA, or equivalent)

Step 2

Apply for Core Training

The three-year Core programme. Each intake has its own application form — apply to the cohort you want to join. The coordinator will verify your registration and confirm your place.

Format: 3 years · 4 × 3-day blocks per year · hybrid Cohort: capped at 10 Faculty: Julie Cochrane Certification: IEDTA & The ISTDP Institute Eligibility: Fully registered mental health practitioner

Step 3

Express interest in Advanced Training

Advanced Training is invite-only. We extend invitations to clinicians who have completed Core Training (with us or another recognised ISTDP institute) and who are ready to work with more complex presentations. You're welcome to submit an expression of interest at any time; we'll be in touch as the next cohort takes shape.
